JACKIE BELF-BECKER ENDORSES TRISTAN SMITH FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE 

August 2, 2022 – (MARBLEHEAD) Long-time Marblehead Select Board member Jackie Belf-Becker has endorsed Tristan Smith for State Representative in the 8^th Essex District. 

“For Tristan, the words passion and purpose aren't just campaign rhetoric. They are clearly the measure of what Tristan Smith believes our next state representative has to bring to the job each and every day,” Belf-Becker said. “Having spoken with Tristan multiple times on issues as diverse as health care, education, the environment and affordable housing, I am convinced that no candidate this year is better prepared to deliver for the people of Marblehead.” 

Belf-Becker, an attorney serving her 18^thterm on the Marblehead Select Board continued, “After almost a quarter of a century of public service, including serving as Chair of the Marblehead School Committee and 13 years as Chair of the Marblehead Select Board, I know genuine talent, commitment and drive when I see it.” 

Smith said he is deeply honored to be endorsed by Belf-Becker’s endorsement. “Her breadth of experience and long-time leadership on both the Select Board and the School Committee have been invaluable to the Town of Marblehead,” he said. 

Tristan Smith, a lifelong resident of the 8^th Essex District, graduated summa cum laude from Salem State University, and received his juris doctor from Suffolk University Law School in 2022. His campaign for State Representative has highlighted the importance of strong and collaborative leadership on the important issues facing the District and the Commonwealth, including climate change and coastal resiliency, investment in transportation improvements, public education, and affordable housing.
