Robert Wayne Campbell (Bob), 84

Robert Wayne Campbell (Bob), of Marblehead MA, died October 15, 2022, at Salem Hospital, in Salem Massachusetts, at the age of 84. At the time of his death he was surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born September 3, 1938, in Marblehead, MA. He attended Marblehead High School, where he excelled on the football field. After Marblehead High School he went on to Brewster Academy, in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, to play football for one more year, before attending Northeastern University, in Boston, Massachusetts. At Northeastern he majored in History and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Upon graduation he was hired by IBM where he spent 31 very successful years, retiring in 1993 as an executive in the HR organization. His time there afforded him and Starr the opportunity to see the world. In 1994, they moved back to the town of his birth.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Starr (Giere) Campbell; his two children, Heather Wager of Marblehead, her husband Jay; Erik Campbell of Fairfield, CT, his wife Leonora, and four grandchildren: Amanda and Brooke Wager and Brandon and Hunter Campbell - whom he loved dearly as well as his faithful companion, Brie. In addition, he is survived by his brother-in-law Glenn Giere of Portland, Oregon.

Bob enjoyed reading, especially history novels, as well as the daily newspaper (in print), playing golf and supporting his favorite Massachusetts sports teams, but not nearly as much as he loved his family.

Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed feeding and watching the birds that would come to his feeders, which he kept filled at all times. In order to allow time for family to gather, a celebration of Bob’s life will be held in the next couple of weeks at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Marblehead, Massachusetts. The family will share details as the date gets closer.
