Tristan Smith, candidate for State Representative of the Massachusetts 8th Essex District, attended the Marblehead Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 8 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. 


Smith joined the crowd of Marbleheaders observing the second annual raising of the Juneteenth flag at Abbot Hall. Smith is running to represent all of Marblehead and Swampscott, along with several precincts from Lynn. Former Representative Lori Ehrlich previously held this seat before accepting a job with FEMA as the Region One Administrator in January. 


“Seeing this outpouring of community support for Juneteenth is fantastic,” Smith said. “Most importantly, I am inspired by the many young voices that we heard from today.”
