Two League Candidates’ Nights Coming
The public is cordially invited to the Marblehead League of Women Voters’ Candidates’ Night to be held on Tuesday May 23 and Wednesday May 24, both at 7 p.m. in the Marblehead High School Library. The moderator will be Jeff Shribman.There are six contested races and 17 open seats. All candidates are invited and candidates in contested races will be featured. The public is invited to meet the candidates informally beginning at 6:30 p.m. Audience questions are welcomed. Contested races featured on Tuesday May 23 at 7 p.m. are: Marblehead Municipal Light Commission, Board of Health, Select Board. Contested races featured on Wednesday May 24 at 7 p.m. are: Library Board of Trustees, Recreation and Park Commission, School Committee. Candidates for uncontested openings will be introduced in the audience. The program will be broadcast live on local access station MHTV (Comcast Ch. 8 and Verizon Ch. 28 and HD 2128) and shown at future times. Program recordings will also be on available on the League of Women Voters of Marblehead website. The League salutes those who are running for office—Marblehead is a town that is greatly enriched by the scores of volunteers who donate their time and talents to public service. The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan (with respect to candidates and parties) organization of women and men which encourages informed and active participation in government and works to increase understanding of major public policy issues. Membership is open to all.
