The Sprint to Election Day: 8th Essex State Rep Race
The 8th Essex District State Representative race is heating up as the September 6, 2022 primary draws near. Six Democrats are running: three from Swampscott and three from Marblehead. As things stand, the winner of the Democratic primary likely will have no opponent in November’s election.
Marblehead Beacon sat down with each of the six candidates for lengthy interviews. The four women and two men spoke to us about what motivated them to run, the issues they plan to tackle on Beacon Hill, and more.
During the remaining sprint to the primary, we will be offering election coverage, including profiles of the candidates, questionnaires in which they frame their agendas and policy positions, highlights from the public forums in which they appear, letters to the editor, and more. For a deeper understanding of each candidate’s fundraising position, our article from earlier this month details such things as where in the district candidates have received funds, how they’ve spent their money, whether special interests have donated, and much more.
Stay tuned for the first installment of our profiles.
