Three Drop Out, Seven Remaining School Committee Candidates to be Interviewed Monday Night
With Jennifer Brennan, Joseph Patuleia, and Laurence Winer no longer in contention for the open School Committee seat, seven remaining candidates will be interviewed during a joint session of the Select Board and the School Committee scheduled for 7 pm on Monday evening, January 23, 2023, at Abbot Hall and online.
The selection of a candidate to fill the open seat created by the resignation of Emily Barron on October 27, 2022 has taken on additional urgency over the past several weeks with the back-to-back announcements that two members of Marblehead's school leadership team will be leaving the district at the end of this school year. Marblehead High School Principal Dan Bauer announced that he would be assuming the position of Superintendent in Danvers, Massachusetts, and Assistant Superintendent Nan Murphy was recently offered the position of Superintendent in Dedham.
The seven remaining candidates who will be interviewed on Monday evening are Paul Baker, Kim Day, Don DeWitt, Raymond Hansen, Thomas Mathers, Liam McGeown, and Scott Stunkel.
Marblehead Beacon offered all of the candidates the opportunity to respond to questions about their interest in and relevant background for serving on the School Committee. Paul Baker sent an email declining the offer to participate, and Kim Day and Raymond Hansen did not respond. Answers from the other four candidates, as well as links to their resumes and letters of interest, are provided below.
The joint Select Board/School Committee is open to the public starting at 7 pm on January 23, 2023 in person at Abbott Hall or online via zoom.
