Marblehead Woman Wins Statewide GOP Leadership Role Against Incumbent
Marblehead resident Amy Carnevale, who we interviewed last month, was elected Chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party (Mass GOP) in a second round of voting earlier tonight. Carnevale ousted controversial incumbent Chair Jim Lyons, who was fighting to retain his seat for a third term. The unabashed Trump supporter, staunch conservative, and scandal-plagued Lyons oversaw losses for the GOP across the Commonwealth as the party failed to win even one statewide seat in November.
Carnevale is a current Republican State Committeewoman and member of the Marblehead Republican Town Committee, and also works as a government affairs advisor for the law firm of K & L Gates. Marblehead Beacon reached out to Carnevale for comment about her victory shortly after the vote but did not hear back prior to publication.
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Amy Carnevale was the leader of the Marblehead Republican Town Committee.
